Clumber Spaniels are certainly worth considering if you are toying with the idea of obtaining a dog. The Clumber Spaniel is a very social dog and, therefore, should be socialized from the early age with new experiences, people and other dogs of different breeds. The pups are very affectionate. However, when the puppies have grown up, they still believe they are lap dogs, playful and devoted to their masters. Clumber Spaniels are very sensitive dogs. Their owners are recommended to use praise when training them. There is nothing these dogs won't do to please their owner.
Clumber Spaniels adore carrying things in their mouths. Their retrieving instinct is rather strong. For the sake of your personal things' safety, you are advised to provide your Clumber with chewies and various toys with which they can happily gnaw, carry and play.
Clumber Spaniels do need a lot of water, especially on hot summer days. Fresh water should be kept available for them at all times of the day. As the Clumber Spaniel's eyes are set deep and droop, your dog's eyes must be cleaned every day with a warm washcloth.
Make a research into the breed before buying a puppy. Ask your breeder all kinds of questions that are connected with the breed and its upkeep. The more informed and knowledgeable the owner is, the happier Clumber Spaniels are likely to be and the more quality time you and your dog are likely to share in the future.
